At the foot of the hill of the beautiful Gerace, we can find the restaurant pizzeria “La Terrazza,” whose name derives from the beautiful balcony that offers a breathtaking view of the coast (Costa dei Gelsomini). Michele Orlando and his wife Giuseppa Febbo opened this business in 1989 bringing it forward with passion, thanks to the help of their four children, two of whom, in 2003 became the current owners of this fabulous restaurant. Since then their children have carried on, with great merit, the good name of the restaurant remaining consistent with a choice that recalls old tradition. The cuisine is simple and tasty, particularly addressed to the grilled meats and appetizers with cured meats of their own production, unique in taste due to the family’s interest also extending into the breeding and butchery business. The restaurant has always emphasized the clear calling of being a typical Calabrian restaurant, offering personal elaborations of the most famous dishes of the region, which clearly embrace the preparation of fresh fish, or equally characteristic and appreciated dishes based on stock-fish.

Antonella, Patrizia and Salvatore will take you on a journey through the ancient tastes of Gerace: after careful research done in order to capture the flavors of the past, they now offer a modernized version that is a bridge between both worlds, present and past.
A savoury pie baked in a wood-burning oven with pork fat as a base, filled with cereals such as spelt, millet and barley, and enriched by the fresh yet at the same time, bitter taste of borage in springtime or of other wild herbs in any period of the year: just to stay in the theme of things.
