"An incredibly fascinating location, a small wonder just a short walk away from the city centre. Attention to details and enchanting atmosphere are assured. Delicious dishes born from unusual but well guessed combinations served traditionally and with care.” “ Do not lose a day without visiting the garden of “culinary wonders". "Beautiful setting in a beautiful Calabrian village. I was undoubtedly left speechless”. These are just some of the reviews left on our website, expressed by some guests of the glamorous B&B, founded in 2018 by the owners’ dream of transforming the building into a charming location - one of the most beautiful in the village - built in the sixteenth century by Andrea Candida, a Syracusan nobleman and the 51st bishop of Gerace from 1552 for the following twenty-one years. Describable as lavish and scenic, the building is located in the heart of the ancient center only a few meters from the Co-cathedral, it has been subjected to a painstaking and to a careful restoration, which has enhanced the original structure, transforming it into a location where beauty and suggestion collide, allowing tourists to fully enjoy their stay in the "Florence of the South". There are five elegantly furnished rooms available, equipped with every kind of comfort. Each room is enriched by that one detail that makes them unique: in one there is a characteristic balcony with an ancient iron railing; another one faces the Co-cathedral, another instead overlooks the beautiful blue Ionian Sea. And, again, the charming stone porch, through which the guest "not by chance", enters the panoramic garden full of flowers and Mediterranean plants, where they can spend a relaxing evening (yes, because those who choose Gerace do not like crowded promenades and discos from the decibel ripping eardrums) Here enjoy your time while sipping a cocktail or – even better - a glass of one of the famous local wines, accompanied by products of excellence and slow food presidia of which this territory is enriched with. It’s the perfect environment for any kind of event, thanks to its elegant spaces, lavish halls, the building is a wonderful for weddings or the authentic civil ceremony since the location is of recognized historical interest, toasts and post ceremony tastings, where guests can be entertained while waiting for the newlyweds.

It is the ideal place for those who want to run away from the "crazy crowd" and rediscover the slow rhythms of past vacations, made of books, pleasant conversations and excursions to discover the historical, architectural and natural beauties of the territory. Days to experience with that intellectual vivacity that characterized the travelers of the "Grand Tour" of the nineteenth century. Among these, the English painter and writer Edward Lear, who visited Gerace in the August of 1847, guest of Don Pasquale Scaglione's family. These are his words: “Each rock, shrine, and building at Gerace seems arranged and coloured on purpose for artists, and the union of lines formed by nature and art is perfectly delicious”.
Palazzo Candida is the ideal place for a refined break and an elegant overnight stay thanks to its recently restored rooms, cared for detail and equipped efficiently in order to put the guest at ease. The restaurant offers a choice that goes from tradition to innovation depending on the predisposition of the guest and the season’s products.
