The Fortress House contains white walls and ancient stones darkened by time, ceilings with chestnut wood beams and bright windows. And green…so much green and the silence of nature is interrupted only by chirping birds and the sounds of crickets. A set of emotions that, those who want to escape from the maddening crowds and give themselves a moment of rest from the chaotic world of today, can savor by retreating in the "Casale della Rocca": an ancient convent. The oldest part of the convent dates back to the late seventeenth century - transformed into a cozy and elegant guest house. Pampered by the staff and immersed in an estate of three hectares between the hills of Gerace and the Ionian Sea, you will have, as soon as you arrive, the feeling of having been catapulted into a journey back in time when a holiday was synonymous with good reading, pleasant conversations and intelligent excursions to discover the beauty that could be revealed in a simple wild flower or in the dazzling splendor of churches and noble buildings. Moments to savor slowly, with the awareness of being one of the fortunate few: a feeling that you will find rewarding when spending your free moments in the wisely renewed spaces which however are able maintain the original structure of the fortress. Moments of full and satisfying comfort while sitting in the garden overlooking the sea or the horizon, relaxing in its elegant rooms where antique furniture harmoniously accompanies those signed by famous designers. A charm that will enchant the visiting tourist or guest at events such as parties, weddings. Furthermore, the structure offers the possibility to celebrate beautiful wedding ceremonies or even the business meeting within the magnificent garden. Perfectly restored, it preserves beautiful stories of the past with an oil mill and part of the tower and floor of the small ecclesiastic church in Neapolitan majolica, visible thanks to an accurate restoration.

If you are staying overnight, ask for Fabio Vita who will accompany you in the free and captivating tour of refined cocktails made by our friend and also expert sommelier Francesco Lubieri, inspired by the local territory’s history: of course: The "Ruggero" (made with gin, bitter, "Greco di bianco" sweet or dessert wine, "Kitza" jasmine liqueur) and The "Roberto" (made with "Mantonico" dessert wine, bitter angostura, "Fernet Branca" bitters, natural water) each one made with dessert wine, just like the two brothers who have the same origins but different temperaments. A fresher "Ruggero", will be tasted in pre-dinner formula (aperitif) preparing your taste buds for dinner, while a darker and more structured “Roberto”, will be proposed in an all-day formula (after dinner).
