The Middle Ages and Beer

Ferrari House

Loving one's native town means committing oneself to helping it become better known, to creating work opportunities, to sharing with others the beauties that it possesses. In short bringing it to the point of being all that it can be. This is the case of Maria and Luisa Ferrari, two ladies from Gerace, now almost a hundred years old, who have been enthusiastically committed to the idea of raising their children in their long-time family living quarters, giving new life to a building built in the second half of the nineteenth century on a pre-existing foundation from 1600, transforming it - after a careful restoration - into a comfortable and elegant B&B, where guests will have the idea of being in a "home away from “home”. A hospitality project aimed at those who appreciate relaxed atmospheres and the elegance in simplicity, a distinctive characteristic of each of the three rooms – each room has double or triple beds, for a total of 8 beds, air-conditioned, with private bathrooms and comfortable beds along with hand-embroidered sheets- facing the Ionian coast and the beautiful Church of San Martino. This is the same intriguing view that can be enjoyed from the small terrace facing the Mediterranean sea, where breakfast is served by the staff: homemade pies and donuts, warm ricotta, cheeses, citrus jams, invigorating juices, milk, coffee... (however in winter all is done in a small room accompanied by a cozy fireplace). In short…whenever you do decide to visit, you can’t go wrong.
At "Casa Ferrari" you can take in a skilful interweaving of contemporaneity and tradition or in other words, breathe-in both the old and the new: Valeria Buccisano, which is one of the owners, devotes herself with particular commitment to the management of the structure and, as an attentive landlady, she is always available to give guests itineraries along with specific details such as directions and addresses in order to find typical products, putting at their disposal also a small well-stocked library with books on local history, novels and essays.

We are all Roger
Casa Ferrari is in collaboration with the owner's son, Andrea (a passionate brewer of craft beers), who organizes a presentation and the tasting of different craft beers for tourists to enjoy, with specific references to the techniques used during the Middle Ages.
The experience can be lived inside of Casa Ferrari with Valeria (with a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 8 participants, with a duration of 45 minutes accompanied by a tasting of 3 types of beer and appetizers) or a a tasting of 5 types of beer and appetizers lasting an hour and a half. Upon request, the presentation can be done in English.

Here you can...
Spend the night in one of the three rooms, double or triple beds (total of 8 beds along with 3 bathrooms), recently renovated and equipped with services and comforts (heating system, air conditioning and private bathrooms), respecting the original layout of the building. In the morning, breakfast, which includes jams, doughnuts and homemade cakes, is served in the lounge next to the fireplace or on the small terrace facing the sea.
In addition, Valeria, the co-owner, will be happy to give directions and any information necessary and will also provide the guests with a small library containing books on local history, fiction and non-fiction.
