Here is our itinerary proposal to discover Gerace in three days.As always, Count Roger takes you on the Norman path of the town and invites you to share the most characteristic experiences of our territory. Alternatively, you can choose the 1-day itinerary for a shorter tour or the 5-day one for entertainment in the name of nature.
Roger I Count of Altavilla will accompany you along a path rich in beautyhistory and culture: the itinerary begins in the lower part of the city called Borgo Maggiore and culminates in the Cathedral of Gerace, one of the largest religious buildings in Southern Italy, which combines characters of Greek and Latin architecture. At the highest point of the city you can admire the Castle built by the Byzantines and fortified by the Normans in 1050, a rare example of our history.
New attractions and monuments are suggested to the stages of the 1-day itinerary:
Bifore of Casa Marvasi
San Siminio tower
You can visit the cultural attractions of Gerace.Starting from the archaeological museum in the historic Palazzo Tribuna, passing through the Episcopal museum and arriving to the Cathedral museum which exposes one of the most important works of Calabria. The Gerace tapestry is a very rare artifact from the mid-eighteenth century that documents the highly sophisticated skills of the Flemish school.
Come with us to discover the most beautiful viewpoints: a view to the Ionian sea and a glimpse of the landscapes of the Aspromonte National Park, a vast protected natural area. Gerace presents itself in its breathless beauty of mountains, hills and sea.
